Scents to take you in to Spring*

You know that you own too much perfume when you have a different set of favourites for each season. The sun made an appearance this week (only briefly, but enough to make me feel like Spring is here) so I thought it was about time to rummage through my collection and share a few favourites with you.

A brand called Clive Christian reached out to me to see if I’d like to feature their perfume gift set for her* on my blog, and after hunting it down in the shops and giving it a good sniff, I was happy to oblige. The set contains five small bottles of some of their beautiful fragrances, meaning you can try them all out to find your perfect scent. This is an indulgent buy at £150, but if you’re looking to treat yourself or buy a gift for someone else, the packaging is beaut (check their website, I only have mini sample sizes!) and the fragrances are incredible – they last all day too!

Until last year, I didn’t even realise that The White Company sold perfume (well, eau de toilette). My life changed when I picked up their candle in the scent Noir from Bicester Village. I would burn it 24/7, and nearly cried when it ran out because I loved the smell so much. And then I discovered it in its magnificent perfume form! With notes of rich amber and bright mandarin with musky sandalwood, you’d think this fragrance would be slightly more winter appropriate, but it smells SO CLEAN to me. Just go and give it a sniff in store, you won’t be disappointed.

As a leaving present from my previous job, everyone chipped in and got me the fragrance Blanc because they knew how obsessed I was with The White Company’s candles. This one has notes of pure white geranium and bright juniper berry, and while its slightly floral, it mostly smells fresh and feminine to me. At just £35, I’d highly recommend you pick either of these up for Spring!

Jo Malone describes the scent of their Mimosa and Cardamom Cologne as “Mists of honeyed, golden mimosa float above the spiciness of freshly crushed cardamom. Creamy tonka and smooth sandalwood woven under powdery heliotrope and Damask rose picked at dawn. Warm, ethereal, mesmerising.” Sounds amazing right? If you read my blog religiously then you may remember that I gave this product a bit of a bad review because of its lack of staying power. The only way I can make this scent stay on all day is by piling on some moisturiser before I apply it. This seems to do the trick and makes it last far longer on my skin. It still makes it into my Spring favourites because the scent is heavenly. It makes me feel bright, awake and fresh every time I apply it. Go and test it out if you don’t mind reapplying!

On the opposite end of the price spectrum is this Zara eau de toilette in the scent Dandelion. Costing less than £10, this fragrance has notes of peach, magnolia, jasmine, vanilla, brown sugar and sandalwood. It’s just the right amount of sweet and fruity, and has a surprisingly long wear time. Zara stocks this in so many different scents, so it’s worth popping in to find your favourite bargain scent for Spring!

Last but certainly not least is the newest fragrance in my collection, Narciso Rodriguez’s Poudreé. Described as a “rendez-vous between velvety jamine, sensual woods and powdery musc”, I wouldn’t have usually picked this up. However I received it as a gift from my lovely fiancé and fell in love the second I smelt it. It’s light, sweet, slightly floral and very fresh. And it’s also a nice change from the usual sweet scents that I tend to go for.

What are you favourite perfumes for this time of year?

Ahh so many I want to try! I definitely have to try that tip of putting moisturiser on to seal the scent and make it last a little longer 😀 I have many perfumes that I love but don’t last too long, like the Victoria Secret range. The White Company scents sound amazing, I’ve only ever smelt Seychelles I think – I need to try the rest! xx
