You know what’s great about having ‘real-life’ blogging friends? They come up with the idea to treat one another to some new skincare. Well, that’s what Lucy, aka Bethan’s Blog decided when we needed an excuse to do some shopping (not that we need an excuse).
We stuck to a £20 budget (thankfully there was some great offers on at the time!) and browsed the aisles of Boots to pick out some products. Here’s what Lucy chose for me, and how I feel after a month of testing them out:
BOTANICS ALL BRIGHT
Botanics has been around for years, but they recently hit the market with brand new packaging and some gorgeous new products. I hadn’t tried anything from them in the past, but having seen a million other bloggers rave about their products all over the internet, I’m glad that Lucy picked out the Cleansing Foam Wash and Micellar 3 in 1 Cleansing Solution.
I don’t have anything negative to say about the foam wash, but also nothing particularly positive. It’s okay. It didn’t dry out my skin like a lot of foam washes tend to do, but also didn’t do anything miraculous either. It’s a nice product to keep in the shower for a quick cleanse, but I wouldn’t run out to buy it again.
The micellar water is great though! It’s difficult for a micellar water to really WOW me because there’s so many good ones on the high street now, but this one made removing my eye makeup so easy. I’ll definitely be stocking up on this, so thank you Lucy to introducing me to my new fave!
The second product that I fell in love with is the Garnier Refreshing Botanical Jelly 3 in 1 (which doesn’t seem to be online yet, sorry!). It can act as a day or night moisturiser, or a mask. I struggle to use this during the day because it leaves my face slightly tacky and makes my foundation apply differently. But for the evening, this is AMAZING on my oily skin. I slather on the thickest layer imaginable and leave it on as an overnight mask. My skin drinks this stuff up and is left feeling really hydrated. And because of the thin, jelly-like consistency, it doesn’t feel too overpowering for my skin type.
GARNIER MATCHA DETOX
Lucy also treated me to two face masks. The first one being Garnier’s Matcha Detox Pore Unclogging Mask. This is said to remove excess oil and visibly unclog your pores, and it does just that. It dries down really quickly – it’s one of those masks you can put on and carry on with stuff around the house, which is a huge plus for me because I struggle to sit still for more than five minutes. It leaves my face feeling clean and soft, and my pores unclogged. A definite winner!
GARNIER PURE CHARCOAL MASK
Last, but certainly not least, is the Garnier Pure Charcoal Black Tissue Mask. In the past, I’ve loved any sheet mask that Garnier has released, and this one did not disappoint. This product is supposed to tighten pores, hydrate and purify your skin. While I didn’t notice anything different with my pores, this mask left my face feeling so dehydrated, while mattified at the same time. I’ve already repurchased this since my first use, and I find that it’s perfect to use before applying makeup. This will definitely be a product that I continue to repurchase, along with Garnier’s other sheet masks.
So a big shout out to Lucy for picking out some new favourites on a budget. Head over to Lucy’s post to find out how she got on with my choices for her!
P.s. If you didn’t already know, as well as having an amazing blog, Lucy is the brains (and beauty) behind the soon-to-be-launced Bleet, an app that bring bloggers together. I’d definitely recommend that you follow @Bleet_App on Twitter and Instagram to keep up to date with the launch – it’s going to be life changing for all the bloggers out there!
