You know you love a lip balm when you stop wearing your favourite, signature red lipstick to work every day, and start flaunting a natural, glossy, nourishing lip instead. One day last week, I went to work wearing my go-to MAC Lady Danger, and by lunchtime, it had been replaced with one of these babies. And I’m one of those people that concerns everyone when I’m not wearing a bold lip. If I forget my lipstick, I get everyone asking if I’m okay or if I’m not feeling great. So this is a big deal.
I avoided the hype surrounding Glossier for as long as I could manage. Finally, the cute packaging and promise of cake scented lip balm drew me in.
I also only meant to buy one Balm Dotcom, but they have a deal if you buy three, and it meant I’d get free delivery then too. So of course I needed three lip balms.
And while you’d think these are all the same, I actually use them all very differently!
Firstly, I went for the Birthday Balm Dotcom, which not only tastes like cake, but also has amazing holographic packaging and a tiny bit of sparkle added to the product. This is my ‘keep in the handbag’, ‘add over lipstick that’s been on for too many hours’ lip balm. It freshens up a worn out makeup, adds a bit of plumpness to my lips, and gives me a hit of sweetness when I’ve craving actual cake.
The Cherry Balm Dotcom has to be my favourite. I love me a red lip, but sometimes, it’s just a bit too high maintenance for everyday wear. This product gives you a hint of colour AND tastes like cherry drops (who remembers these sweets?! So good).
And because these products do actually moisturise my lips, I use the coconut one as part of my skincare routine. You can use these on any dry patches on your body, so it’s great to have a clear one of these (without glitter or red tint) to put on overnight.
I’m now a lip balm convert and I’m choosing to wear one of these at least a few days a week, as well as overnight. So that’s a win in my books! Now what else do I need from Glossier?…
