The lovely people at KuPP in Oxford* recently invited me, along with some other lovely bloggers, for a scandi-styled evening filled with good food, amazing cocktails and beautiful interiors.
KuPP, located in the newly built Westgate shopping centre in Oxford, prides themselves on their love of sharing. Sharing, nibbling and grazing are at the heart of their menu, which is filled to the brim with small graze & share plates and sharing boards.
But before we go into more detail about the food, let’s just appreciate how beautiful KuPP is. I love Scandinavian interiors, and KuPP has it perfected. With the exposed copper pipework, minimalist and fresh style and cosy mood lighting, what’s not to love?
And while I didn’t dare to brave the outdoors on a January evening, KuPP also has a beautiful outdoor balcony overlooking Oxford, so I’m very excited for a trip here once the sun is out!
We started our evening at KuPP with my favourite thing – cocktails! The barmen demonstrated how they make some of their top beverages, whilst me and the other bloggers swooned over which was our favourite.
I went for the Prinsesstårta, described as a Swedish layer cake of jam, cream and marzipan and made from Red-Leg Vanilla Infused Rum, Crème De Fraise, Strawberry Nectar, Lime and a Marzipan Crown.
Unfortunately I was designated driver for the evening, so the lovely barmen make me a mocktail version that tasted just as good and satisfied me while everyone else got tipsy!
While we all enjoyed our cocktails and mocktails, we had a chance to try out some canapes, including House Smoked Pork Meatballs, Crushed Avocado & Leksands Knäcke Crispbread and Nordic Skagen Prawnson Pan Fried Sourdough. The avocado crispbread was my favourite dish and I will definitely be heading to KuPP again to order a big plateful of it because it was VERY tasty.

Our main course consisted of a variety of smörgåsbord’s, filled to the brim with delicious dishes ranging from oven baked quinoa, smashed avocado and pickled vegetables, to oak and apple wood house smoked mackerel and trout, potted rabbit and roast beetroot.
I was surprised by how brave I was with trying out lots of dishes because I usually just stick to plain old chicken, salad and carbs. Being served food on sharing boards gave me a chance to try so many foods that I wouldn’t usually order, and was a great conversation starter with the other bloggers as we urged each other to try out the amazing dishes!
I thoroughly enjoyed trying something different at KuPP. I’d never normally have tried Scandinavian food, as I was unsure what fell under ‘nordic’ in the food department. But the sociable, sharing and friendly feeling at KuPP (and the tasty food and beverages of course!) has left me dying to go back again with a group of friends for a lovely evening on the balcony.
