So no one really tagged me to do this, I just saw it floating around online and decided it fitted perfectly with my super autumnal photoshoot. Autumn is obviously the best season ever, so why wouldn’t I want to do a whole post devoted to it?
What signifies the start of autumn to you?
The start of autumn to me is being able to wear tights everyday without dying of heatstroke, going out into the sun without turning into a lobster within 0.5 seconds, going into my candle drawer (don’t judge) and pulling out all my fave, spicy scents, and of course, seeing those beautiful autumn leaves on the ground.
Best way to spend a rainy day?
Controversial, but I like a good car journey on a rainy day. Especially if I’m not the one driving, which is never. There’s just something about relaxing in the back seat of a car while the rain hits the windows that really chills me out. And if I haven’t got someone to endlessly drive me about in the rain, then a good Disney movie, pyjamas and a pamper is the best way to spend a miserable, rain-filled day.
My favourite autumn memories are from my three years spent at university, when me and my best friend Larnie would go out and buy unnecessary scarves and bobble hats that I never wore. And because we didn’t spend December at university, me and my uni gang had a ‘November Christmas’ complete with decorations, advent calendars, Secret Santa and a Christmas dinner (totally recommend to any students out there). Downgrading to just one Christmas has been tough.
Favourite autumn scent?
Perfume? Either Jo Malone’s Pomegranate Noir or Tom Ford’s Velvet Orchid. Both super overpriced but smell beautiful at this time of year. Candles? Yankee Candle’s Tarte Tatin (mum, if you’re reading this, Christmas is coming soon…).
I’m just excited for LIFE this autumn. I can’t explain it, but I feel like I was born to live in this season constantly. I just feel more comfortable in the cooler heat, the warmer clothes, and the dark, cosy evenings.
Favourite autumn song?
I didn’t even realise that I had a favourite autumn song until two days ago. I’d just spent a couple of hours cleaning my house, had a bath, made a cuppa and sat down to relax and enjoy the cleanliness of my living room, when Ed Sheeran’s ‘Autumn Leaves’ came on on Spotify. I was so relaxed and the song made me feel so happy and excited for the new season. So yes, it’s stereotypical, but I love it and will listen to it on repeat until winter (playing it right now as I type this, beware it can make you teary if you’re super sleepy on a train).
Autumn movies are a thing? I don’t like scary, Halloweeny films so I’m gonna say that it’s never too early to start watching Christmas films! It’s totally acceptable to watch Elf in autumn.
What TV shows are you looking forward to this autumn?
I don’t even know where to begin. Autumn and winter are the BEST for TV shows. Is Blue Planet II coming out soon? Because Planet Earth II was phenomenal last year. Also, Netflix kills it with the series at this time of year. We have new episodes of Stranger Things, The OA, and Jane the Virgin to come, along with a load of others that I’ve most likely forgotten about. And there’s a rumoured second season of Making a Murderer coming soon. I’m so excited.
Favourite autumn colour?
MUSTARD. Everything mustard please. I’m so happy to have discovered mustard this season, as I’ve never dipped my toes into the condiment looking shade before. I think it looks really great with my blonde hair, and I love how much it complements all of my berry lipsticks.
Favourite autumn trend?
As a lipstick lover, my favourite trend is always going to be berry lips. Some of my most loved ones are MAC Diva, MAC Beet Lip Pencil, and Nars Audacious Lipstick in the shade Audrey to name a few.
Along with my strange love of being driven around in the rain during autumn, I also love going for walks. I can’t stand it in the warmer seasons because I get hot, bothered and sun burnt, but a walk is so nice in this crisp weather. I also love all of the obvious activities like Halloween and bonfire night, and this year, I’d love to go pumpkin picking. I’m still yet to try a Pumpkin Spice Latte though (don’t kill me).
I haven’t tagged anyone in particular to do this, so if you love autumn as much as I do, please steal these questions and autumnify your blog!
