I’ve been desperate to get my hands on an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil since they first released in 2015, so when Apple released the new editions in June this year, I had to get my hands on one!
I went for the 10.5 inch as I currently have a 13 inch MacBook Pro, so I thought the 12.9 inch iPad would be an unnecessary purchase.
I think starting a blog gave me the push to finally buy this, and also going on a calligraphy class last month, as I mostly want to use this for digital art and typography.
I ordered this case from Amazon for £9.99. Its pretty identical to the ones that Apple sell, except this one has a plastic, protective cover on the back too – bargain! However, when the Pencil arrived I released I definitely needed a case because I’m bound to lose something so small. I ordered this, again from Amazon, for £5.99, and it’s the perfect match for the case.
Here’s a few apps that I’ve downloaded so far to get me started on my iPad art creating journey:
Adobe Sketch – This is really great for drawing and painting. I’ve especially loved playing around with watercolours on here to create some pretty backgrounds for my calligraphy.
Pro Create – Again, another great painting app, but this one has soooo many brush options, plus you can create your own. This one is good for all you calligraphers out there.
Amaziograph – I haven’t used this one much yet, hence the rubbish pattern below, but this app lets you draw in one section, while mirroring it in the other sections, letting you create kaleidoscopic artwork – so fun!
I’m also really enjoying using my iPad for blogging and editing photos, but I’m most excited about progressing with my digital calligraphy at the moment!
Please let me know if you have any recommendations, and I will keep you updated with my progress on these apps 😊
