I’ve had a lob (aka long-bob) for around a year now, and never bothered to do much with it other than straighten it. My hair was getting frazzled with heat and bleach, and my hairdresser has refused to let me grow it out – hence why I still have a lob! My hair is naturally really curly, so I’m trying to embrace the natural texture with these Bumble and Bumble products.
Hairdresser’s invisible oil heat/UV protective primer – £21 for 250ml
Some form of heat protector should be the first step in any haircare routine. This one is my favourite at the minute. Firstly, the bottle is hugeeeeee, it’ll take a lifetime to use this up. Secondly, it smells lovely and makes my hair silky and shiny. I feel like this step is key to making my beachy waves still look healthy, as textured hairstyles can often look dry and damaged.
Full form mousse – £23 for 150ml
This is incredible. It makes my hair twice the size without adding any weird, sticky feeling like some other mousses can.
I put an egg sized dollop (or two, depending how extra I’m feeling) into my roots once my hair has air dried for around half an hour. Then I blow dry. However, I’m no professional with a hairdryer, my arm gets achey, I get too hot and flustered, and I’m lazy. I tip my head upside down and roughly dry my hair completely. If you do this you’ll look like a lion, which is always the look I aim for with volume!
Surf infusion – £23 for 100ml
Bumble and Bumble call this beauty “A salt-in-oil innovation, this mellow mix of tropical oils and texturising sea salts creates soft, sea-tossed waves with sheen.”
Take note of the “in-oil” part of this product. The first time I applied this, I put it on wet hair, blow dried, and ended up looking like a sticky, greasy mess.
For me, this is best applied to my dry hair once I’ve styled it. I think when your hair is wet, it’s difficult to tell how much of this you’ve applied, and how your hair is going to feel once it’s dry.
To style my hair, I re-curl any messy parts of my natural hair using GHDs, then add a few sprays of this to add some texture. It works wonders. Then I add hairspray, at the moment I’m using Schwarzkopf Professional Silhouette Super Hold Hairspray, recommended by my hairdresser, but I find my hair holds well just using the Bumble and Bumble products anyway!
